Ari  Flaherty

Teacher

My name is Coach Ari, and I’ve been teaching chess for eight years at schools throughout Los Angeles. Originally from New York City, I started playing chess when I was five years old and quickly fell in love with the game. Chess became a big part of my childhood: it helped me build confidence, make friends, and challenge myself. By fifth grade, I was ranked 15th in the country for my age!

I love sharing my passion for chess with students and creating a fun, encouraging environment where every child can learn, grow, and enjoy the game. Whether a student is learning how the pieces move or developing advanced strategies, my goal is to make chess fun, engaging, and accessible for players of all ages and skill levels!
